What LPTV is and how it works
Low Power TV (LPTV) is a low-cost and very effective way of delivering Hope Channel directly to the TVs in city homes. The main components are: A downlink from the satellite and a transmitter on a high location sending out UHF or VHF broadcasts directly to TVs in homes.
Applying for broadcast licences can be time-consuming and needs to be done well in advance, and is subject to local laws and procedures.
A local studio is useful if recorded materials are to be inserted into the broadcast stream. This encourages the local production of video programs in the context and language of the cities being served. The signal may be delivered to the transmitter by cable, micro-wave link or some other means.
Hope Channel offers technical support and consulting to groups intending to set up LPTV stations for Hope Channel. Please write to techinfo (at) hopetv.org
Permission needs to be obtained from Hope Channel to re-broadcast programs free of charge. When such permission is granted, an "Affiliate Agreement" or Certificate is issued by Hope Channel.
