Facilities for a LPTV studio

In the context of Low Power TV, the term “studio” is used in at least two ways:

  • A TRANSMISSION studio, used to manage and control what is broadcast via your LPTV station.   This could start as a very simple studio, such as a desk in the corner of an office.

      Equipment could include:

         a)   Downlink equipment to receive the program stream (usually) from a satellite

         b)   A DVD player / or small server unit

         c)    A Microwave transmitter to send the program stream to the transmitter tower.

  • A PRODUCTION studio, used to produce good quality video programs, stored on Hard Drives, DVDs and other media, for replay when required.

     Equipment could include:

         a)  Video cameras with tripods and lights

         b)  A desktop computer with editing software

     Important notes:

      a)   To conserve costs it may be better to rent a studio, unless it can be fully utilized.

      b)   Experienced and well trained operators are essential to ensure successful production.
